HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Board of Directors and Management team of Hutchinson Credit Union announce that,
effective Nov. 3, 2014, the credit union’s name will transition to Heartland Credit Union to better represent the growing membership and coverage area of the cooperative.
The new name is a testament to the growth of the credit union. Over the past 66 years, H.C.U. has grown to over 20,000 members, and soon to be six branches in Hutchinson, Haven, Newton, and Wichita. The name Heartland Credit Union is more in-line with the membership and will help steer the organization as it continues to grow.
Garth Strand, President of the newly-renamed Heartland Credit Union, states, “One of the primary reasons our credit union has continued to prosper is that our members and leadership have continually embraced change and adapted in positive ways. It is absolutely necessary that we acknowledge and embrace the fact that over 53 percent of our members now live outside of Hutchinson and over 45 percent live outside of Reno County. Heartland Credit Union accurately reflects the growing diversity of our membership which we view as a very healthy and positive progression.”
During the transition, members will not experience any disruption in service. Their account numbers will remain the same and checks, debit cards, and credit cards will continue to function as normal. Members will soon begin to see the transition in branches and on the website, www.hcu.coop, to reflect the new name.
H.C.U. is also expanding service with a new building at 29th and Main in Hutchinson.
