HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Students at McCandless Elementary School were left high and dry Monday afternoon when a water main break shut off service to the area.
According to district spokesperson Ray Hemman, the break happened around 2 p.m. and because it was so close to the end of the day, parents were given the option of picking up their students early. Those that stayed were at school until the final bell, which is at 3 p.m.
Parents were notified via the school district’s phone and email alert system.
