Employee battered during theft at a local department store

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Police are investigating a theft at a local department store where an employee was battered in the incident.

It happened around 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the Kohl’s Department Store at 1300 E. 17th. Police say a black male came into the store and stole some merchandise and then battered an employee while at the store.

Because an employee was battered, police are describing the incident as robbery. No arrests have been made.
