HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Sheriff and other emergency crews worked a two-vehicle accident in the county Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Trail West and South Whiteside Rd.

Upon arrival. they found 38-year-old Trina D. Miller of 3508 E. Red Rock Rd. was west bound on Trail West when she was struck by a vehicle driven driven by 52-year-old Nadine V. Kessler of Sawyer, Kan. She was north bound on Whiteside and stopped at the stop sign. She told deputies that she received a phone call while she was at the stop sign and, as she answered it, she “just took off and didn’t look for other traffic.”

Miller was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. She was wearing her seat belt and her airbag did deploy. She had an 8-year-old boy as a passenger in the back seat. He received a minor injury to his right eye.

Neither Kessler nor her two passengers were injured. However, she was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign.
