HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County has seven projects totaling more than $8.1 million on the just announced list of projects from the Kansas Department of Transportation which includes about $1.2 billion in spending over the next several years.
Most of the projects for Reno County are small in nature. The two major projects on the list are the renovation of K-14 from the Kingman County line to the K-96 interchanges just south of South Hutchinson at a cost of nearly $4 million, and the Passing lane expansion of US-50, about seven miles east of the US-50 and K-61 junction at a cost of $2.3 million. Both projects are expected to go out to bid in late 2014 or in 2015. Several lesser projects include renovating a small portion of K-96 at Victory Road, K-61 highway from US-50 to Lorraine Street and K-61 highway from Lorraine to 11th Avenue.
The list also includes one bridge project on US-50 in western Reno County at a cost of $758,000 and an extension of the Northeast Bike Trail in the city at a cost of $364,000.
