HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The USD 308 School Board approved the 2014-15 budget after a brief public hearing Monday.
The budget calls for an overall mill levy of 52.102, a drop of over 8 mills from the 2013-14 budget. A court-ordered equalization of the local option budget from a statewide lawsuit is responsible for the decreased mill levy.
Also during Monday’s meeting, Superintendent Dr. Shelly Kiblinger walked the board through a draft of the 2014-19 Strategic Plan. During her State of the District presentation to staff on Aug. 7, Dr. Kiblinger gave staff an overview of the plan, including the two research-based strategic actions which includes teaching literacy across the curriculum and teach, model and reinforce positive behaviors.
