Reno County Courthouse 2

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — One of two arrested for aggravated burglary of a Hutchinson home where several weapons were taken entered “no contest” pleas in the case Friday morning.

19-year-old Brandon Hudson was before Judge Joe McCarville and entered pleas in the three charges. The two sides will recommend concurrent sentencing, however, they will each be able to make their arguments for disposition in the case. Sentencing was set for September 5.

The state alleges that he and 18-year-old Joshua Cellers used a credit card to pick a lock to an attached garage at a home on Cone Street. They allegedly took as many as five rifles and several handguns. The burglary apparently occurred while the occupant of the residence was at home. This allegedly happened February 26.

Cellers had earlier entered pleas in this case and two others. Judge Joe McCarville sentenced him to two years, eight months in prison, but then granted him three years community corrections.

Cellers was also sentenced for burglary of a dwelling and theft of a firearm in a case from January 31. This occurring at a home in the 600 block of Town & Country. The third case included charges of non-residential burglary, criminal damage to property and misdemeanor theft. In this case, he’s alleged to have broken into the Extreme Crossfire Paintball at 5 North Mohawk Rd, where he stole a golf cart. These crimes happened January 19.
