HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 27-year-old man who is a suspect in a battery case on July 8, made a court appearance Thursday morning after he was arrested on a warrant that brought him back from Kansas City, Mo.
Dwone Heard allegedly struck a man in the face with a handgun at a location near Bigger and Maple. The victim suffered a cut to his forehead as a result.
The state charged Heard with aggravated battery, but in court, he claimed to know nothing about the case.
Police Lt. Marty Robertson says there were a lot of people at that location when the altercation occurred.
Heard is no stranger to local law enforcement with convictions for drugs, two counts of aggravated intimidation of a witness or victim, and forgery.
His bond was left at $10,000 and he’ll be back in court for a waiver-status hearing on August 19.
