HUTCHINSON, Kan.— Reno County Commissioners took time to chew over the budget again during Tuesday’s regular meeting.
The budget as published totals $57,503,816 on $21,786,645 in levied taxes. The budget calls for a one mill increase that will be used exculsivley for road projects. The one mill is similar to a one mill bridge levy that has been in place for several years. The Commission hopes to set a public hearing date during its August 5th meeting.
Also today, Commissioners approved a contract with Union Pacific to reconstruct two grade crossings at Red Rock and South Sterling Road. The work will include new signals and arms along with rebuilt grade crossings.
The work is an exchange for the county closing two other crossings in the area.
