HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The 26-year-old man arrested recently for the sale of drugs and charged with racketeering is scheduled for court on two cases Wednesday.

Jeremy Jiles was arrested in June on suspicion of being in possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package drugs, possession of a personal use drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of a weapon and possession of marijuana. But he had three other cases pending, including an earlier case from this year. Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton combined the charges in the two cases from this year into one criminal complaint adding a charge of racketeering or in the alternative, distribution of marijuana.

He is scheduled for a status hearing on those charges in this case which started after the Reno County Drug Unit served a search warrant on his home in the 100 block of George. Police allege that they found two vacuum sealed bags with marijuana. They also claim to have found a digital scale with marijuana residue on it, two gallon size zip-lock baggies with green vegetation, as well as additional new bags. Police say they also found a pair of brass knuckles in a dresser drawer.

The other two cases that were combined into that one complaint includes charges from an arrest in January and February of this year, again for the sale of marijuana.

He’s also scheduled for a preliminary hearing for a case that goes back to Sept. 20, 2013. He’s charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package, personal use drug paraphernalia and no tax stamp.

Jiles says he will have Wichita Attorney Charlie O’Hara representing him in all the cases

Bond in the case remains well over a million dollars.
