HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After being continued last month, the preliminary hearing for a man accused of beating and kidnapping another man is scheduled once again for Wednesday.

James Dean faces charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated battery and criminal possession of a firearm.

He’s accused of beating 50-year-old David Crossman after entering his home uninvited, forcing him from the home and then beating him with a baseball bat. The incident occurred February 28.

The state has made a plea offer in the case, but apparently, a preliminary hearing is scheduled in front of Judge Joe McCarville.

Dean has another case pending jury trial on June 17, but it’s unclear if there is an offer made in that case also. He’s accused of stabbing a man and running over him with his own truck. That allegedly occurred in the early morning hours of August 4, 2013.
