As we told you last week, the trial for a 45-year-old Hutchinson man arrested back in August of last year for allegedly downloading child porn was scheduled to begin this week, but that a plea agreement was in the works. That has apparently happened.
Wayne Hegner is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child, but apparently will enter a plea in the case on Friday. That means the trial scheduled to begin on Tuesday won’t happen after all.
What agreement has been made won’t be know until Friday with the case in front of Judge Trish Rose.
The case started with police investigating Hegner allegedly downloading the pictures using a website, Peer-to-Peer file sharing. It’s a website where people exchange and send each other this kind of material. This allegedly going on for over a year.
Police Detective Scott Carlton told us at the time of the arrest that he had been investigating the case for a couple of months prior to Hegner being taken into custody and a look at his computer showed a few hundred files of child porn.
Again, a plea agreement appears to have been made with Hegner expected in court on Friday.
