HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After several preliminary workshops and meetings, the Hutchinson City Council got its first look at the 2015 fiscal year budget in writing during today’s City council meeting.
The budget, as is, calls for a $2.565 million increase for next year, which equals about $758,000 in revenue. It also includes an increase in valuation for the city of 3.35% which is adding about $300,000 into the city general fund. The city is facing the usual increases, including a five percent increase in health insurance and a merit step increase in pay for all employees. It also includes the $400,000 increase for the city street program. The Council will hold a budget study session on July 8th to begin the process of adding or cutting back on spending.
The city hopes to have the budget approved by the end of August.
