PRETTY PRAIRIE, Kan. – A 19-year-old Pretty Prairie man was taken to jail on a number of charges after he apparently crashed a vehicle that authorities say was stolen.

Chavez Williams was arrested after the crash at Pretty Prairie Road and Dean Road around 5:10 a.m., Friday morning.

He was arrested for DUI, no drivers license, illegal consumption of liquor, illegal transportation of liquor and theft of a motor vehicle.

Williams lost control of the vehicle and crashed, but escaped serious injury. He was checked by EMS at the scene, but was not transported to the hospital.

Bond is set at $2,300 and according to the jail log, he had not posted the bond as of Saturday morning. Unless he does, he should make a first appearance on the charges Monday morning.

And while responding the scene of that accident with red light and siren, Sheriff Deputy Travis Vogt was also in an accident when he struck a deer with his patrol vehicle at K-14 and Lake Cable Rd. He wasn’t injured, but the vehicle suffered minor damage to the passenger front quarter panel.
