HUTCHINSON Kan.— The ongoing efforts to improve the housing situation in Hutchinson could take a big step forward with action taken by the Hutchinson City Council during Tuesday’s regular meeting.
The Council will seek approval of a $400.000 dollar Community Development Block Grant from the Kansas Department Commerce, that will go towards renovating homes along Avenue “A” between Walnut and K-61 Highway. That money, along with matching funds from the city, could be enough to fix up 15-20 homes. The council will also take action on two resolutions to find a grant administrator for the project, and set up the rules and guidelines for those property owners wanting to take advantage of the forgivable loans that will be made available through the grant.
Tuesday’s City Council meeting begins at 9am at the city offices.
