WICHITA, Kan. – 43-year-old Christopher M. Ward, the Hutchinson Correctional Facility inmate who walked away from his job last week in Chase, was apprehended Thursday evening in Wichita and is being returned to the custody of the Kansas Department of Corrections.
Ward was taken into custody by a joint task force of Kansas Department of Corrections Special Agents, K-9 officers and U.S. Deputy Marshalls. Other details of the arrest were not released. However, we knew that he had ties to that area and were told on Thursday that they were concentrating their search in the Wichita area.
He has been serving time for convictions in Butler and Sedgwick counties for burglary, theft, aggravated burglary, flee and elude and aggravated escape from custody.
Upon completion of the investigation, reports will be forwarded to the Rice County Attorney’s Office for review and possible additional charges.
