HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 33-year-old Hutchinson man with at least three other cases pending faces more charges after police allege he broke into five storage units
Timothy McQueen was arrested for five counts of burglary, five counts of theft and five counts of criminal damage.
He made an appearance on these charges with a bond set at $5,750. Assistant District Attorney Andrew Davidson wanted the bond increased to $50,000, calling McQueen a danger to the community. He cited the other cases pending, including two others from this year. He told the judge that he won’t stop committing burglaries in the city.
In one of the other cases, McQueen is accused of entering a Hutchinson woman’s home, stealing jewelry and other personal items. This case goes back to May 31st.
But, Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen also read charges for a case from April 1st. In this case, McQueen is charged with three counts of auto burglary. Bond in that case is set at $5,500.
He also has a case pending trial where he’s charged with aggravated burglary for going into Dillon’s after being advised of criminal trespass for committing a theft.
Judge McEwen declined to raise the bond as requested by the state, but he also declined to lower it as requested by McQueen. The suspect claimed he feels like he’s being targeted by police and wanted out to try and turn his life around. The judge ordered substance abuse evaluation as part of even being released on bond. His bonds for all cases total $57,500.
The judge set a status hearing for the latest arrest on Wednesday, May 18th.
