Hutchinson, Kan, – Hutchinson Regional Medical Center announced this week that they decided to temporarily suspend admissions to the hospital’s Skilled Nursing Unit, effective midnight Monday.
The decision was made following from a recent survey by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services when they informed the hospital that they would not receive an opportunity to correct alleged deficiencies before remedies were imposed.
Hutch Regional officials are refuting each citation and challenging the overall findings.
Kevin Miller, President and CEO of the hospital said, the decision to suspend admissions to SNU was made by Medical Center officials to allow time for the hospital to pursue a informal dispute resolution with KDADS.
“We feel it is the best interest of our patients and staff to suspend services provided within our Skilled Nursing Unit until the matter is resolved,” said Miller.
The decision does not impact admissions to Ray E. Dillon Living Center or any other part of Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
Patients admitted to the SNU on or before midnight on Monday will continue to receive the same care and services until they are discharged by their physicians.
