HUTCHINSON, Kan. – After a meeting of the Hutchinson Community College Board of Trustees Thursday afternoon, they selected Dr. Carter File to replace Dr. Ed Berger as President of the College.
Dr. File was born and raised in Beloit and graduated from Beloit Jr/Sr HighSchool and later attended and graduated from Cloud County Community College with an Associates of Arts Degree. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Kansas State University, holds a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Baltimore, and completed a Doctor of Philosophy Degree from the University of Nebraska in Educational Studies, with a specialization in Educational Leadership and Higher Education.
He’s held several executive level positions in the private sector as a controller and chief financial officer. For the past twelve plus years, he’s worked in the Kansas community college sector of higher education.
The last eight plus years have been spent at Hutchinson Community College as Vice President of Finance and Operations.
File is married to Tracey his wife of twenty-five years and they have two adult children Emily and Samuel.
Dr. Berger will retire as President of Hutchinson Community College on July 30. He started with Hutchinson Community College in 1981, first as Dean of Continuing Education, and then from 1991 to present as President of the college.
