GALVA, Kan. — Union Pacific spokesperson Mark Davis says they hope to have trains running again through central Kansas around 6 p.m. this evening.
Storms yesterday blew 30 cars off the tracks near Galva, about 35 miles northeast of Hutchinson. Davis says the train was heading to Los Angeles when the accident happened. The train, which was carrying truck containers, did not have any hazardous materials on board, and there were no injuries.
UP is trying to reroute as many trains as possible until the line can open up again. About 25 trains per day use the line that runs through Reno County.
