Extreme grassland fire danger potential will exist Today across much of Central and South Central Kansas, due to very warm and dry air combined with very gusty South winds. A few strong to severe thunderstorms may develop Wednesday Night mainly across South Central Kansas with at least a marginal, isolated hail and wind threat. The pattern for Thursday strongly suggests severe thunderstorms will develop in the afternoon and evening hours across South Central and Southeast Kansas. These storms will pose the bigger severe threats of: large hail up to 2 inches in diameter, wind gusts to 70 mph, and possibly a tornado especially closer to the Oklahoma border.
