The in-person Match Day event is scheduled for 7am to 7pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Eagle Communications, 9th & Main in Hutchinson.
Representatives of participating organizations are encouraged to be on site throughout the day, but this is not a requirement for participation.
Hutchinson Community Foundation will provide promotional materials to participating organizations. The Foundation will promote and advertise Match Day to its stakeholders and to the general public.
The Foundation will provide participating organizations with one This Is Where Our Heart Is t-shirt to wear at the event.Additional t-shirts may be ordered for $12 each if needed or desired.
ONLINE GIVING
Anyone in the world may donate to one or more participating nonprofit endowments between 12:00 AM and 11:59:59 PM on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at www.ihearthutch.com.
All donations of at least $20 will be eligible for a local and national match, as well as the prizes.
NONPROFIT ELIGIBILITY
All 501c3 organizations, schools, churches, and governmental entities that have endowed funds at the Hutchinson Community Foundation or Buhler Community Foundation are eligible. Nonprofits must registerhere and submit their nonprofit participation agreement by midnight on March 18, 2014 in order to participate.
Those 501c3 organizations that establish an endowed fund with a $10,000 minimum before March 18, 2014 may also choose to participate. Please contact Aubrey Abbott Patterson at 663.5293 if you would like to establish an endowed fund.
DONATION INFORMATION
The 2014 match pool is $50,000, provided by Hutchinson Community Foundation.
The match pool will be divided in proportion to the total amount raised on May 6. For example, if $200,000 is raised and your organization brought in 10% of the total donations, your organization would receive 10% of the match pool, or $5,000, to use for immediate needs.
Donations must be made to an endowed fund held at the Foundation designated for a 501c3 agency. Event attendees will receive a list of participating agencies/funds.
Donations are irrevocable and must be made in person at Eagle Media or online at www.ihearthutch.comon Match Day. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted.
Minimum donation amount to be matched is $20. There is no limit on the amount of funding donors may contribute to an agency’s endowed fund. However, no organization will receive more than $10,000, or 20%, of the $50,000 match pool. Prize incentives are outside of this limit.
Donations will be tax deductible and can be made to multiple organizations. Checks must be made payable to Hutchinson Community Foundation. A separate form will be available to indicate multiple organizations.
One receipt will be issued to each individual making a donation. A list of the donors and their contact information will be provided to each nonprofit.
Donations by participating organizations to their own fund will not qualify for the match or incentive prizes.
PRIZE INCENTIVES
Prize grants will be given throughout the day to generate a sense of excitement and urgency.
Three organizations that raise the most money for their endowments will receive the following prizes in the form of unrestricted grants:1st Place – $1,000; 2nd Place – $500; 3rd Place – $250
Three organizations that bring in the most unique donors will receive the following prizes in the form of unrestricted grants:1st Place – $1,000; 2nd Place – $500; 3rd Place – $250
Throughout the in-person event, a donor’s name will be randomly chosen every hour (from the previous hour’s donors). An additional $100 will be given to the charity that received the donor’s original contribution.
GRANT SPECIFICS
No organization will receive more than $10,000 in matching funds. (Prize grants are not included in this total.)
Matching funds for unrestricted use will be awarded by June 30, 2014. No reporting will be required for these grants.
