HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Hutchinson man was killed in a one-vehicle accident last night on the city’s north side.
Hutchinson police report that 81-year-old William Rexroad died late last night at a Wichita hospital. Rexroad was going west on 43rd Avenue near Monroe, when his car left the road before striking a culvert and then a utility pole. Rexroad was airlifted to St. Francis Hospital where he later died. The accident also knocked out power to a large number of Westar customers.
Rexroad was a well-known author and speaker and was very active in the Reno County jail study committee. He was also the one-time owner of Electrix Inc., which manufactures electrical components, until he sold the business.
