The second annual Sculpture Walk in Downtown Hutchinson will begin with a reception at the Hutchinson Art Center on June 25, from 5-7 p-m.
Those attending will have an opportunity to meet some of the artists, and hear the announcement of the Juror’s Award Winner at 6:00 p-m.
The juror was Ron Michael, Curator of the Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery in Lindsborg, Kansas. Then take a leisurely stroll down Main Street to experience the beautiful sculptures. The Municipal Band will be playing in the Farmer’s Market Pavilion at Washington and 2nd, beginning at 8 p-m.
They have already started adding the new sculptures in the downtown area today. You can already go down and check them out.
One was the “Spirit of Energy” by Karen Crain which is a bronze statue and was placed on the west Side of 3rd & Main
The other was “Butterfly Girl” by Gregory Johnson, also a bronze, and it was placed at northwest Corner of 1st & Main
Others include the “Eternal” By Gregory Johnson, a stainless steel sculpture on the northwest corner of Sherman & Main
“Emma,” by Sondra L. Jonson made of resin, on the northwest Corner near the parking lot at Avenue A & Main
“Canteen Lady” by Sondra L. Jonson, another bronze, at the northeast corner of B & Main
“Prairie Moon” by Don Lind made of limestone which will be on the southeast corner of 4th & Main.
Another is “Eyes on Man” by Sandra Keller another bronze which will on the northeast corner of 3rd & Main
“Going Home” is another bronze by Sondra L. Jonson which will at southeast corner of 1st & Main
“Whispering Secrets” by Don Lind made of marble is on the southeast corner of Sherman & Main
“Comforter” by Karen Crain which is bronze southeast corner of Avenue A & Main
The City of Hutchinson, Downtown Hutchinson, and the Hutchinson/Reno County Arts & Humanities Council are sponsoring the SculptureWalk. This exhibit of original sculptures will be on display through April 2014.
