A 10-year-old boy was taken to the hospital Friday evening after an ATV accident in the county.
The accident occurred around 7:20 p-m, at 5005 N Tobacco Rd.
10-year-old, Mason Mayfield was riding his four wheeler when he lost control and struck a tree. The collision caused him to launch over the handle bars and hit the tree with his helmet. The contact broke the sun visor off of the helmet.
His parents were outside watching and ran to his aid and called 911. He was conscious and breathing while the paramedics assessed him. He was ten transported by Reno County EMS to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for further medical examination.
Sheriff Deputy Jack Trussell says the boy wearing a helmet made his injuries were far less severe and could have been worse if he hadn’t been wearing one.
