KSU Kansas State UniversityMANHATTAN — Eighteen Kansas State University students were recently selected to the Student Foundation, which focuses on raising awareness among current and future alumni about the importance of giving back to the university and cultivating philanthropy across the university.

Sponsored by the Kansas State University Foundation, the Student Foundation works with foundation staff and volunteers to uphold the mission of uniting philanthropic desires with university priorities. The Student Foundation’s largest and most popular program is the K-State Proud Student Campaign, which raises money for Student Opportunity Awards. These awards are given to Kansas State University students who have exhausted all other forms of financial assistance and, in many cases, are responsible for keeping students at the university. Student Foundation members also interact with alumni, participate in professional development and act as campus hosts.

“It is a pleasure to work with student leaders who have a heart for service and care deeply about K-State,” said Mindy Weixelman, senior director of annual giving and student programs at the KSU Foundation. “We appreciate their commitment to advancing K-State through philanthropy and look forward to working with Student Foundation to achieve their philanthropic goals.”

The following area students are new members of the Student Foundation:

Efren Frayre, sophomore in business management, and Audrey Gerber, sophomore in nutrition and health, both from Garden City; Taylor Fry, sophomore in business, and Hunter Harrison, sophomore in entrepreneurship and finance, both from Great Bend.

Emma Barnett, Hutchinson, freshman in political science and international business.
