A groundbreaking ceremony for Tenawa Haven Processing, LLC will be held on Tuesday, March 25, to mark the development of the new gas processing plant. The groundbreaking ceremony will begin at 12:00 noon, at 12610 South Kent Road in Haven. This is south of the Panhandle Eastern Facility, 1 ½ miles west of Haven, south of K-96, mile marker 258 – Kent Road.
The company chose the location adjacent to the existing Panhandle Eastern facility near Haven because the junctions of the three major pipelines bring together gas from the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles and other input areas. The processing plant will super-cool natural gas flowing through the interstate pipeline system and extract the resulting liquids. The extracted liquids are processed into different components, such as methane, butane, and propane and sold to different industries.
“This unique processing facility takes advantage of the outstanding resource of natural gas available at the Haven Panhandle Eastern facility and introduces a value added component to this resource. The job creation and capital investment will benefit not only the immediate area along the K-96 corridor but will bring the opportunity for future development in the future,” Harland Priddle, Executive Director, K-96 Corridor Development Association said.
The Tenawa Gas Processing facility will employ 12-15 people and consist of an office/administration facility, control room, and state of the art extraction facilities consisting of tower complexes, turbines, generators and other equipment. The facility will occupy approximately 7 acres of the new industrially zoned site.
“This project is a great example of the leverage that regional partnerships can offer to economic development and job creation in Reno County,” Jason Ball, President of the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce said. “This project involved numerous government organizations at city and county levels, as well as the K-96 Corridor Development Association and the City of Haven Economic Development Program. When you get a team of people working together like this, good things happen.”
Construction is scheduled to begin in early spring and be completed in December 2014. Operations are expected to begin in January 2015.
