Monday Weather

A strong surface/dry line will move across the area during the morning hours on Tuesday. As this trough moves across, winds will drastically shift to the west northwest. The winds will also increase to 35 to 40 mph with some gusts to 45 mph possible…especially for areas west of the Kansas Turnpike. As the winds increase and drier air moves into the area, the grassland fire danger values will rise into the extreme range. Thus a red flag warning has been issued for all of Central, South Central and Southeast Kansas for Tuesday afternoon. Outdoor burning is NOT recommended given the dry grasses and fuels.
